Francesca and Michael's Spectacular Thornbridge Hall Wedding
Frankie and Mike chose the beautiful Peak District for their summer wedding. A lovely cottage in Great Longstone was the base for Frankie and her family and bridesmaids to get ready, followed by a beautiful service at St Anne's Church in Baslow, and then a cracking reception at Thronbridge Hall. Transport was provided by a double decker London bus and a vintage Rolls Royce. The whole day was made very special or them by their wonderful family and friends. Frankie's sister (Jenny Walser) was a brilliant toast master for some very heartfelt and often funny speeches, the Ceilidh was hilarious, and the live band finished the evening in style.

Beth and James at Hooton Pagnell Hall
What a wedding and what a venue! Beth and James had a wonderful summer wedding at the most amazing Hooton Pagnell Hall. Beth looked a million dollars in her Blue by Enzoani wedding dress, and the beautifully manicured gardens at Hooton Pagnell Hall gave us plenty of opportunity to show off Beth, the dress, her flowers and her new husband.

A gorgeous Thornbridge Hall wedding for Angharad and Jonny
Imagine getting ready with your friends on your wedding day, and then all of you walking in your silk dressing robes and heels down a country lane to a spectacular stately home where your husband to be is nervously waiting for you. Angharad and her maids did exactly this and it set the scene perfectly for a wonderfully personal self made wedding.
Pamela and Sam's oh so elegant Chatsworth House wedding
I've been excitedly waiting for Pam and Sam's Chatsworth House wedding ever since they first contacted me, and made all the more so by their beautiful bluebell inspired woodland pre-wedding shoot. The day did not disappoint as Pam and Sam are two of the loveliest people ever! Their wedding was a blending of cultures in one of England's finest stately homes, and features timeless elegance married with fun, laughter, and plenty of love.
Kayleigh and Roy's awesome West Mill wedding
A beautiful industrial wedding at a truly spectacular wedding venue.
Kayleigh and Roy were married in June at the stunning West Mill in Derby. The sun shone, the wine flowed, and they had an amazing day. This is their story.
Wow! What a year 2018 was!
2018 has been nothing other than a wow year for me as a wedding photographer. I have been part of so many amazing weddings and have been privileged to capture so many wonderful memories for all the couples that chose me for their special day. The long hot summer meant that summer weddings were extra happy affairs, and the endless evenings with golden light were truly special. Looking back through the year's images brings back many happy memories for me and reminds me (not that I ever forget) that I LOVE wedding photography.
I hope you enjoy these wedding images as much as I do, and please get in touch if you would like me to tell your wedding story.

Rachel and Ashley's stunning sunset wedding at Peak Edge Hotel
Rachel and Ashley married at the amazing Peak Edge Hotel on a glorious October day. For me as a photographer the best thing about October weddings is the light, and this wedding was one with beautiful low afternoon sun and a gorgeous golden evening glow. The other good thing about this wedding, of course, was Rachel and Ashley (and Ashley's gigantic family!) Rachel was beautiful in her stunning Nora Eve dress and Ashley played the part of the dapper groom in blue tweed. This was a day to remember - thank you so much for inviting me to be part of it.
Jen and Lee's Wortley Hall wedding
Jen and Lee are two of the smiliest people I have ever met, and the infectious warmth of their personalities were a perfect match for a wet and windy October wedding day at Wortley Hall.
Sophie and Sam's Ringwood Hall wedding with a tractor
Sophie and Samuel married at Barlow Church with their reception at Ringwood Hall. Their wedding story was a perfect reflection of their lives together which features love, romance, farming and horses. Highlights of the day include Samuel whisking his bride away from church in a humungous brand new John Deere tractor (probably the most expensive wedding car ever), very emotional speeches, some cracking golden hour portraits, and crazy dance floor action.

A beautiful hot summer day was the setting for Erin and David's uber romantic yet very intimate wedding.
Anna and Rob - the art of the pre-wedding shoot
The other evening Anna and Rob joined me for their pre-wedding shoot out in the glorious Derbyshire Peak District. I want to share not only some of their beautiful images, but also a few words about why I love pre-wedding shoots and what my clients get from them…
Anita and Luke's Alice in Wonderland themed wedding at Whirlowbrook Hall
“But I don’t want to go among mad people," Alice remarked.
"Oh, you can’t help that," said the Cat: "we’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad."
"How do you know I’m mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn’t have come here.”
(Lewis Carroll - Alice in Wonderland)
This was an awesome wedding and, unlike the quote above, there wasn't a mad person in sight! Anita and Luke are made for each other and it shows in the subtle glances and cheeky looks they gave each other throughout the day. Anita's dress was styled by the amazing Vyn Johns (it looks stunning in the Peak District photos), and she had the most amazing pair of Alice in Wonderland shoes. The bridesmaids were an extremely lively bunch who supported Anita throughout the day and were also very able photography assistants, and Luke was accompanied by a great bunch of friends who seemed to know exactly when to take the mickey out of him.
Whirlowbrook Hall is always one of my favourite venues, and any wedding there is a wedding to remember. The grounds are beautiful, but the Peak District is even more beautiful and so we jumped in the car and headed out to Higgar Tor for an hour in the evening to capture some lovely images of the happy couple. Amazingly there is no hint of the fact that it was 2 degrees in the photos, but when two people love each other this much cold is no obstacle.
Enjoy the slideshow and pictures, and I would love to hear from you if you would like me to be your wedding photographer.
A look back at 2017
It's that time of year again - 2017 was a truly special year and 2018 looks to be an amazing year with lots of wonderful wedding stories waiting to be told. 2017 was made even more special with Helen and I joining the many happy couples tying the knot with our own wedding last July. I have been fortunate to work with many wonderful wedding suppliers and have forged many new friendships along the way. My highlight of the year, apart from my own wedding, was not in any single wedding but in the many stories my images tell and the wealth of memories I have given my clients. Being a wedding photographer really is a privileged job to have.
If you are looking for a wedding story teller to photograph your wedding in 2018, 2019 or 2020 then please do get in touch for a chat.
This is a video review of my favourite images from 2017. Enjoy - and tell your friends too.

Ella and Chris' gorgeous autumn wedding at Wortley Hall
Autumn is my favourite wedding season for its beautiful colours, gorgeous golden light, and brides who are happy to get outside and look beautiful for the camera. Ella and Chris were a laid back and fun loving couple who had the most wonderful wedding at Wortley Hall in Yorkshire, and were totally game for using the grounds as a stunning natural backdrop to their special day. For me their day had many highlights, the aforementioned portraits in the stately home's grounds and some heartfelt and hilarious speeches being two of them, however the biggest highlight was Ella's triumph in training Chris for their carefully choreographed first dance - tens across the board methinks!
Click through to the pictures and slideshow for a glimpse into their day, and to discover just who their fab suppliers were.
Vicky and Ben's late summer wedding at Aston Hall
Vicky and Ben's wedding at Aston Hall last September was a privilege to photograph. They are such an easy going and very happy couple with a lovely family that made the day all that more pleasurable to be part of. My first photographic session with them was when we went up to Curbar Edge for their pre-wedding shoot at the very spot that Ben romantically proposed to Vicky, and set the scene for their big day at Aston Hall.
Check out the slide show for special moments from their big wedding day at Aston Hall…
Gemma and James at Whitley Hall Hotel (with dogs in tutus and Dixie from Heart FM)
I first met Gemma and James in January 2016 when they won a competition for an engagement shoot I had been running, and from Gemma's first email I knew they were a relaxed down to earth couple who were going to have a wonderful stress free wedding day. I guess I wasn't quite prepared for just how laid back the day would be though, but when I arrived at Gemma's mum's on time to photograph Gemma getting ready only to find them out I soon realised everything would be as chilled as the champagne toasts. Preparation was simple with lots of laughter and, after a welcome interruption by Tracy and Grace from Campbells Flowers, Gemma appeared looking the radiant bride that she was for the day. Off in a stunning vintage Austin to St Mary's church in Bolsterstone for a lovely ceremony before their grand arrival at Whitley Hall for celebrations with family and friends. There were also two very special and important guest appearances at Whitley Hall. First were Gemma and James' little dogs dressed in tutus, and second was Dixie from Heart FM who had very kindly agreed to DJ for the evening party - Gemma's mum wasn't the only star struck guest, but I think more than one dream had come true for her that day.
I hope you enjoy the slideshow and pictures
Beth and Russ super fun marquee wedding with an added sunset
Weddings don't get much better than this. Mix a super fun couple with a marquee and a wheat field and you have a recipe for a spectacular wedding (and a few stunning photos too)! I'm not sure the quiet village of Elmton in Derbyshire knew what hit it the sunny July day Beth and Russ got married, but it welcomed them and their wonderful quirkiness with gusto. Highlights from their day included the small but beautiful church, a tattooed vicar, a beautiful vintage bus, rustic garden games made by Beth's fair hand, smoked meat that had been cooked all night by the most dedicated hairy guys, a wheat field, and a stunning sunset. I loved this wedding so much!
The slideshow really captures the essence of Beth and Russ day. I hope you enjoy their love story!
Peak District pre-wedding shoot with Christina and Toby
Christina and Toby are a couple who are very much in love. I am a photographer and I am very much in love with the Peak District, so what better place to celebrate our mutual affections than sunset at Curbar Edge. It is fair to say that when Christina and Toby left after the shoot, they had also fallen deeply in love with the Peak District.
Enjoy the photos, and if you are looking for a photographer for your wedding or couples shoot, then please get in touch.
Alex and Jon's whimsical Whirlowbrook Hall wedding
Whirlowbrook Hall is a little gem on the edge of Sheffield and was the perfect venue for Alex and Jon's whimsical wedding. The beautiful grounds give a wealth of opportunity for bride and groom portraits, and for this one we disappeared into the woods to make the most of Alex's wonderful long veil against the lush contrast of an English woodland.
The dress: Maggie Sottero supplied by Brides of Bakewell
The flowers: Marks and Spencer - arranged by Alex and her family
Hair: Fanny and Clara

Catherine and Pearce's Peak District marquee wedding in the Spring sunshine at Standlow Farm
Remember that beautiful hot summer day we had in April this year? Well that was the perfect day for Catherine and Pearce's amazing marquee wedding at Standlow Farm in the beautiful Derbyshire Peak District. The first thing I noticed when I arrived was the swimming costumes drying in the sun - in April!
Catherine wore a most beautiful Essense of Australia vintage lace dress which contrasted perfectly with her bridesmaids' purple tones. The vintage theme was carried over in to the 1960s VW camper that whisked her off to the church in Kniveton - fashionable just a few minutes late of course. Pearce had a few personal touches with his blue suit - cufflinks with C and P engaged on them and some personalised stitching inside his jacket.
The church at Kniveton is absolutely beautiful, if a little bit tiny, inside and was packed with Catherine and Pearce's family and friends. The ceremony was traditional right up until the end when everyone got up to dance and sing one of Pearce's favourite songs as the married couple exited the church. After a few glasses of champagne outside the VW camper then took them back to the farm for a marquee reception with some of the best wedding food I have yet to taste. A perfect day was made even more perfect by golden sunshine that lasted until the pizza oven opened outside for the evening guests to enjoy.

Katie and Craig's Peak Edge Hotel wedding
When two of the most easy going people you could ever meet get married you can be sure they will have a great time, and that's exactly what Katie and Craig's wedding was - fun, fun, fun!
The dress: a stunning vintage lace Maggie Sottero that made Katie look a million dollars and more. The girls: a crazy fun bunch that were all beautiful in their pastel shades. The groom: clearly loves Katie to bits. The guys: a genuinely nice crowd dressed in suits by Reece Ford.
Check out the photos for a feel of this wonderful wedding, portraits by the famous rock, a lovely sunset, and hilarious guests.
Once again it's a big thank you to Peal Edge Hotel for looking after the bride and groom, their guests, and of course their photographer. But my biggest thank you goes to Katie and Craig for inviting me to be part of their wedding and document their special day.
I hope you enjoy the slideshow - it gives a real flair of what Katie and Craig's wedding was all about.
Nicole and Mark's Christmas fireworks wedding at Ringwood Hall Hotel
I love Christmas weddings, and Ringwood Hall becomes a magical winter wonderland at this time of year - even without any snow!
Nicole and her bridesmaids got ready at home in Wakefield with Nicole's two cats looking on. The bridesmaids wore beautiful earthy dresses and matching gold trainers. Nicole made the unique pinecone bouquets herself on the morning of the wedding, which were the perfect complement to her stunning bouquet complete with a claret protea from her native South Africa (made by The Little Flower Shop). Mark was waiting slightly longer than expected for his fashionably late bride at St Helen's Church in Wakefield, which was a beautiful candlelit and romantic setting for a Christmas wedding. Vows done it was time to head into the gale force wind for a crazy confetti shot before the now Mr and Mrs headed down the motorway to Derbyshire for their reception.
Wind and rain would keep most brides inside, but Nicole was more than keen to get out for a few high speed portraits which only added to the fun of the day. Check out the veil shots in the gallery below for an idea of just how strong the wind was. The wedding breakfast was followed by speeches that were almost as exciting as the weather, filled with South African banter and more than a touch of emotion. The wind dropped just in time for a spectacular surprise firework display on the hotel back lawn before everyone headed back inside to dance the night away.
Congratulations Nicole and Mark, and thank you so much for inviting me to tell the story of your day.

Sharley and Dan's wedding at Ye Olde Bell
There is always something special about Christmas weddings, and Ye Olde Bell in Retford is a magical setting for one. The day started with Sharley and the girls getting ready in a magnificent suite overlooking the hotel gardens - plenty of opportunity here for some arty shots of the bride. The ceremony was held in a wonderful room dating from the 17th century with a magnificent Christmas tree and roaring open fires keeping the guests warm. Afternoon light at this time of year is special even on overcast days, so we took the opportunity to make the most of the hotel gardens for some bridal and bride and groom portraits. The wedding breakfast and speeches went down well, then Sharley said she was up for some night time wedding photography outside in the rain (see the image above!) and I don't mind getting a bit wet, so out we went. The evening and first dance was played out by The Hypertones, a pretty cool Nottingham band who know how to fill a dance floor.
I hope you enjoy the gallery.

Lisa and James' magical autumn wedding at Wentworth Church and Rotherham Golf Club
Late November sunshine! Who could want more for their wedding? Lisa and James had the most beautiful of wedding days at three spectacular venues. The Rockingham Arms Hotel in Wentworth was the scene of an early start for the bride and bridesmaids with their fabulous hair and makeup artists - the low sunshine coming through the trees set up some lovely bridesmaid portraits. Off then to one of England's finest churches at Holy Trinity in Wentworth for a ceremony with a wonderful choral rendition of Ave Maria and some fun photos outside - check out the wild confetti shots in this blog - even the normal reserved James was smiling! The whole party was then moved to Rotherham Golf Club for a splendid meal and evening party. The grounds at Rotherham Gold Club were perfect for lots of evening light portraits. Thank you for inviting me to photograph you wedding, and I hope you enjoy the photographs as much as I enjoyed taking them.

Remember remember the 5th of November! Laura and Jason will never forget their wonderful wedding day on bonfire night in Sheffield City Centre. The day was blessed with amazing weather and gorgeous autumn light from getting ready at St Paul's Mercure Hotel, through the beautiful ceremony at St Marie's Catholic Cathedral, until our little walk around the city centre capturing some beautiful bridal portraits in the city lights.

Kenwood Hall Hotel is without doubt one of Sheffield's most prestigious wedding venues. From the glorious opulence of Kenwood House to the stunning grounds and lake there is an amazing backdrop for any wedding, and the staff are excellent and attentive to ensure every wedding is the perfect occasion for all wedding couples. Katie and Michael's beautiful Ringwood Hall wedding
Katie and Michael are one of the loveliest and most genuine couples you would ever want to meet, and their warmth of personality really shows through in their wedding photographs.
Autumn at Ringwood Hall is a special time in the beautiful and extensive gardens. Trees bathed in golden light turn orange, brown and yellow. Low sun enhances every view. And people get married - well not quite at Ringwood Hall in this case as Katie and Michael did everything there apart from the wedding ceremony which they dashed back to St James Church in Norton for. This set of photographs tells the story of their day and I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I enjoyed taking them.

Megan and Andrew's classical English wedding at Ringwood Hall
Megan and Andrew were married in a beautifully English wedding at St James Church in Norton and Ringwood Hall Hotel. Megan looked absolutely stunning in her 1920s inspired vintage dress by New York Bride, and the classic English theme was perfectly accessorised by the groom's men's navy morning suits and the bridesmaid's gorgeous green dress. But that's enough of what everyone looked like, the emotions and characters of the day are always far more memorable, and there was certainly plenty of them! The outstanding character of the day award, if there was one, would go to the best man who gave one of the most entertaining speeches the guests had ever heard - just check out the emotions in this blog. The only downside to the day was that the weather was so wonderful, and Ringwood Hall's gardens are so beautiful, that the DJ would have been very bored had it not been for the few die hard ravers sweating through the tunes.

Amy and Scott's pre-wedding shoot in the Peak District
A beautiful late summer evening in the glorious Peak District was the perfect setting for Amy and Scott's pre-wedding shoot. The scheduled hour was such fun with these two that almost two hours flew by without us noticing - and that was despite Amy and Scott having to get a train back to London. Capturing the 'click' between two people is one of the best parts of my job as a wedding photographer, and there is nothing but 'click' in these images. Watch out for their wedding photos in a few weeks - I can't wait to photograph this couple again.

Charlotte and Luke's gorgeous wedding at Whirlowbrook Hall
July was a special month in Sheffield - amazing weather, Tramlines music festival, Cliffhanger outdoor festival, oh and Charlotte and Luke got married! This wedding was a festival of love, and when two people love each other like these two then nothing can stop them having the most perfect wedding day.
Whirlowbrook Hall is a gem of a venue with it's rolling parkland and Georgian interiors. Charlotte got ready in the Sycamore room with her four bridesmaids and best friends since childhood. When the time came for Charlotte's dad to see her there was a definite tear in his eye. Off in a vintage roller to St John's Church in Ranmoor and a beautiful ceremony in what is probably one of Sheffield most stunning churches. Ceremony, confetti, and some beautiful doorway portraits of the newly weds all done and it was time for drinks and canapés back at Whirlowbrook. After the wedding breakfast and speeches, I joined Charlotte and Luke for a short walk to capture some intimate moments in the grounds before they returned to their guests and the party which by now was in full swing. It was a wonderful day and I was made to feel like one of the guests, so I would like to thank Charlotte and Luke for inviting me to share their special day.

Erin and Jodi's wedding love story at Kenwood Hall
Two beautiful brides, a lovely hotel, and summer weather at its best! Erin and Jodi's wedding day at Kenwood Hall was one of the most romantic weddings I have photographed. Erin's attention to detail, artistic colour coordination, and makeup artistry was just the start of a day made eternally special by her and Jodi's families and friends. The grounds of Kenwood Hall are spectacular and provide the perfect setting for some stunning wedding photography. I loved taking every picture, but my personal favourites are the pre-Raphaelite portraits in the woods. I want to thank Erin and Jodi for inviting me to share their special day, and I hope you enjoy the blog - the love between these two is evident in every picture.

Jennie and Mark's fun fun fun wedding at Wortley Hall
You can tell a lot about a couple at the first meeting. Some couples invite you to their homes, some choose cafes and nice coffee, Jennie and Mark chose a pub and a pint! They turned out to be one of the most fun, sociable and genuinely down to earth couples I have ever worked with, and I think it shows through in the fun and emotional photos from their wedding day. Wortley Hall is a great venue for a wedding photographer and Jennie and Mark are a great couple so sit back and enjoy this selection of images from their wedding.
Harriett and Chris' glamorous wedding at Kenwood Hall
Stunning, beautiful, fun and full of excitement from bridal preparation through to the first dance. It was a complete privilege to photograph Harriett and Chris' wedding at Kenwood Hall last month.
The day started with bridal preparation at Harriett's nan's house. The girls had a lovely time that not even a stuck door, with the wedding dress on the wrong side, could spoil thanks to Harriett's dad's skills with a well timed shoulder barge. Then it was off to St Joseph's RC church in Handsworth for a traditional catholic ceremony in a stunning church, followed by a good dumping of confetti over the happy newly weds. Kenwood Hall was the wedding breakfast and party venue, and as we got there the heavens opened. It took a very well timed and slightly risky dash to the grounds for a portrait session, but Harriet managed to look radiant despite the rain and the wedding party and toast master were on hand with lots of umbrellas to keep her dry. Speeches done, cigars smoked, and then it was time for the cake causing and first dance. Harriet and Chris are a beautiful couple and I wish them every happiness with married life.
Amy and Jonathan's intimate wedding at Baslow Hall
Amy and Jonathan are one of the nicest couples you could wish to meet, and I had a wonderful day photographing their wedding at the stunning Baslow Hall.
The theme for the day was simple and intimate, something Baslow Hall is extremely well suited to. However Amy ensured the attention was on her with her stunning fifties dress, and Jonathan livened things up with his blue striped linen suit and bow tie.
The day started with some reportage shots of Amy getting ready with her sister and niece, before moving to Baslow Hall to capture the guests happily chatting with Jonathan. A quick trip outside produced some cool images of Jonathan just before Amy arrived to accept his hand in a ceremony filled with love and humour. A few drinks, a brilliant confetti shot, and it was off to the woods for some romantic images of the married couple. Some more shots of the guests, a beautiful meal, and then all too quick it was time to say congratulations and goodbye. Thank you to Jonathan and Amy for inviting me to be part of your special day.
Charlotte and Luke's pre-wedding shoot at Padley Gorge
Another beautiful pre-wedding shoot at Padley Gorge, one of my favourite locations in the Peak District. It's only a few weeks to Charlotte and Luke's wedding and I can't wait to photograph them again.
Kristina and Alasdair's transatlantic love story at Mosborough Hall
This was the perfect transatlantic love story, and a lesson in how to keep a long distance relationship alive. Kristina braved the chilly sunshine of springtime Yorkshire - a stark contrast to the sweltering heat of southern California - to marry Alasdair in a beautiful ceremony at Holy Trinity Church in Harthill. Kris's day began in a hair salon with her sister, bridesmaids, and Al's mum. From there it was off to Mosborough Hall to finish getting ready before travelling in Rolls Royce luxury to Harthill. Fortunately this was the only rainy part of the day, and the return to Mosborough Hall for the reception was greeted with warm sunshine. Mosborough Hall has some wonderful photo opportunities and once the group photos were over we took full advantage of them. On next to the wedding breakfast, cake cutting and speeches before a few more photos in the dark, and finishing with a cracking disco. A perfect wedding!

Claire and Dean's beautiful urban wedding at Wentworth Church and Victoria Quays Sheffield
Claire and Dean tied the knot at the amazing Wentworth Church near Rotherham. Wentworth Church is probably one of the most amazing churches in England and I love shooting weddings there. After the ceremony the happy couple returned to the Hilton Hotel at Victoria Quays in Sheffield for a high octane reception complete with a top magician making goldfish appear from £10 notes. As the sun started to set we ventured onto the quayside for some romantic images, finishing with my saucy lift shot that made it on to the Wedding Community blog site as image of the day.
